Everybody goes stir crazy from time to time, especially during the lockdown! This piece of artwork came to me during a writing exercise intended to be towards my artist statement. In the space of five minutes I discovered my head is full of fairies and rabbits and that the two go a bit mad when they overdose on sugary treats!

Dryads usually stay within their trees, but nature has been healing whilst we've all been shut away, and I think it would have been the perfect time for a Dryad to venture out from their trees and explore more of the world. A fairy visitor keeps his distance on the other side of a hedge!

Fairytale Birthday Party In Isolation 🧚‍♂️

Having a birthday during isolation was very odd! I haven't really got much in the way of nature to be walking through locally other than a field and some thickets of trees etc where I ventured to several times towards the end of my degree. I took photos, one of them was a tree stump and I thought it could make a whimsical variant to a traditional birthday cake. As for the hunky fairy, I just enjoy liking what I'm spending time on! 🤣

My "exhibition" for my final year of my fine art degree, hosted in my garden. I think the fairies went quite well being displayed in natural surroundings 🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️

It also allowed me to produce work digitally, which I've been finding easier to manage than traditional lately (no setting up, no clearing up, no waiting for paint to dry, and can be done anywhere!). The artworks were then put onto blank canvases I had set up in my garden. My first patrons were my rabbits and my Persian cat Baileys! 🐈🐇🐇
